Our Story
The Way It Should Be
Here at Liberty Fenix we love upcycling, recycling and all things that scream sustainability. Okay perhaps not "scream", but you get the analogy right?

We also love scented candles, here at Liberty we work alongside a multitude of pubs, bars and restaurants. We acquire all of their used and unwanted vessels, this includes a vast array of beer bottles, wines, spirits and the occasional bottle of champagne. We then cut the bottles down using our refined techniques, after this is done we sand and polish the bottles to ensure they are perfectly smooth and safe.
The Fenix is an old English spelling of the word phoenix, which you already knew right? We chose our name based on the old traditional techniques we use and the liberation of the bottles destined for land fill.

This also symbolises our mission and ethos, giving the bottles a second life and saving them from a million years at landfill. Lets face it, who would want to go there, we hear it's a pretty awful place.
The Fenix symbolises regeneration and rebirth, emerging from the ashes, if we all adopt this mantra in regards to a sustainable future, the possibilities are endless.
ABOUT US
​For 7 years I have made candles and I am also a candle artisan. For years I've always wanted to create a candle product that was super sustainable and actually doing some good for the planet. I could never find the right path Until one day I was burning a candle and I saw the flame behind an empty bottle of rum. Suddenly it dawned on me, I was drunk. No seriously, could this bottle of rum actually be used as a candle vessel?

After a lot of research, deliberation and a ton of candle making experience behind me the journey began. I'm not going to lie, there were a few disasters to begin with. A few months passed by and after refining my techniques I finally achieved the perfect candle blend and the best techniques to cut the bottles in a safe and structured way. Initially making candles for close friends and family I knew straight away it was a hit. ​
​So here we are today and still growing,. All our candles are made with our own in house wax blend that is made up of sunflower and olive wax. This is a super sustainable wax and isn't farmed to the severity of soy blends on the market. It is 100% cruelty free and our wax contains no genetically modified ingredients whatsoever.
